Títol : Chains of finance : how investment management is shaped Tipus de document : text imprès Autors : Diane-Laure ArjaliÆes ; Philip Grant ; Iain Hardie ; Donald A. MacKenzie ; Ekaterina. Svetlova Menció d'edició : First edition. Editorial : Oxford : Oxford University Press Data de publicació : 2017 Nombre de pàgines : 193 pages ll. : il. Dimensions : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/DL : 978-0-19-880294-5 Nota general : Inclou apèndix, índex i referències Idioma : Anglès (eng) Matèries : Inversions Classificació : 7 Inversions i gestió de carteres Resum : Investment is no longer a matter of individual savers directly choosing which shares or bonds to buy. Rather, most of their money flows through a "chain": an often extended sequence of intermediaries. What goes on in that chain is of huge importance: The world's investment managers, who are now almost as well paid as top bankers, control assets equivalent in value to around a year of total global economic output. In 'Chains of Finance', five social scientists discuss the ways in which the intermediaries in the chain influence each other, channel the flows of savers' money, enhance investment decisions, and form audiences for each other's performances of financially competent selves. The central argument of the book is that investment management is fashioned profoundly by the opportunities and constraints this chain creates. Whether chains constrain or enable, however, they always entangle, tying intermediaries to each other - silently and profoundly shaping the investment management industry. 'Chains of Finance' is a novel analysis that will make students, social scientists, financial professionals, and regulators looking at the workings of financial markets in a new light. A must-read for anyone looking for insights into the decision-making processes of investment managers and those influenced by and working for them. Disponible Poverty / Philip N. Jefferson (2018)
Títol : Poverty : a very short introduction Tipus de document : text imprès Autors : Philip N. Jefferson Editorial : Oxford : Oxford University Press Data de publicació : 2018 Nombre de pàgines : 149 p. ll. : il., gràf. Dimensions : 17 cm ISBN/ISSN/DL : 978-0-19-871647-1 Nota general : Inclou índex Idioma : Anglès (eng) Matèries : Pobresa Classificació : 00 Economia Resum : No one wants to live in poverty. Few people would want others to do so. Yet, millions of people worldwide live in poverty. According to the World Bank, over 700 million people lived on less than US $2 a day in 2013. Why is that? What has been done about it in the past? And what is being done about it now?
In this Very Short Introduction Philip N. Jefferson explores how the answers to these questions lie in the social, political, economic, educational, and technological processes that impact all of us throughout our lives. The degree of vulnerability is all that differentiates us. He shows how a person's level of vulnerability to adverse changes in their life is very much dependent on the circumstances of their birth, including where their family lived, the schools they attended, whether it was peacetime or wartime, whether they had access to clean water, and whether they are male or female. Arguing that whilst poverty is ancient and enduring, the conversation about it is always new and evolving, Jefferson looks at the history of poverty, and the practical and analytical efforts we have made to eradicate it, and the prospects for further poverty alleviation in the futurePermalink : https://bibliotecatriasfargas.cat/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3 Poverty : a very short introduction [text imprès] / Philip N. Disponible Principles of sustainable finance / Dirk Schoenmaker (2019)
Títol : Principles of sustainable finance Tipus de document : text imprès Autors : Dirk Schoenmaker ; Willem Schramade Menció d'edició : First Edition Editorial : Oxford : Oxford University Press Data de publicació : 2019 Nombre de pàgines : xxv, 394 p ll. : il. Dimensions : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/DL : 978-0-19-882660-6 Idioma : Anglès (eng) Matèries : Desenvolupament sostenible Classificació : 034 Desenvolupament de l'economia Resum : Finance is widely seen as an obstacle to a better world. Principles of Sustainable Finance explains how the financial sector can be mobilized to counter this. Using finance as a means to achieve social goals we can divert the planet and its economy from its current path to a world that is sustainable for all.
Written for undergraduate, graduate, and executive students of finance, economics, business, and sustainability, this textbook combines theory, empirical data, and policy to explain the sustainability challenges for corporate investment. It shows how finance can steer funding to certain companies and projects without sacrificing return and thus speed up the transition to a sustainable economy. It analyses the Sustainable Development Goals as a strategy for a better world and provides evidence that environmental, social, and governance factors matter, explaining in detail how to incorporate these factors in the corporate and financial sectors.
Tailored for students, Principles of Sustainable Finance starts each chapter with an overview and learning objectives to support study. It includes suggestions for further reading, lists and definitions of key concepts, and extensive uses of figures, boxes, and tables to enhance educational goals and clarify concepts.
Principles of Sustainable Finance is also supported by an online resource that includes teaching materials and cases.Nota de contingut : Inclou Referències i Índex Permalink : https://bibliotecatriasfargas.cat/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4 Principles of sustainable finance [text imprès] / Dirk Schoenmaker ; Willem Schramade . - First Edition . - Oxford : Oxford University Press, 2019 . - xxv, 394 p : il. ; 24 cm.
